The backwards thinking and policies of supposedly learned gentlemen.

This country was founded by people who understood the need for freedom. They knew the value of minding their own business. They escaped a tyrannical king that sought to impose his will upon them. They dared to stand against what was then the most powerful force on earth. They didn’t just give up, thinking that they would never win. They had faith in their cause, they put faith in something greater than themselves. They didn’t just put that faith in God, they put their faith in principles. They knew in their hearts and souls that they were on a solid foundation morally and factually and that they must try. You can’t deny your heart and soul, and still respect yourself afterward. It doesn’t matter the consequences, you should do what is right. Continue reading “The backwards thinking and policies of supposedly learned gentlemen.”

The Sea of Apathy

Maybe I’m just old-fashioned or I’ve just been cut from a different cloth. I like to think of myself as an independent thinker. I’m proud of having a mind of my own. I happily don’t follow the masses of seemingly mindless people that behave more like a herd of cattle. It’s groupthink to a mind-numbingly extreme degree. People, for the most part, don’t have principles of their own. They might espouse this or that to make themselves look good, but they follow the crowd instead of what they should at least know is right. Continue reading “The Sea of Apathy”

Heads in the sand.

Attention to details are important in life. People tend to only notice the things which they believe affect them, not realizing most of what happens around them will affect them in some way down the road. I love technology. It helps make life easier and allows us to engage in many more activities over the course of a day. People benefit from the use of these devices. Too many people, however, become consumed by their devices.

I have seen people walk into walls because they had their heads glued to their smartphones.  The other day I entered a service station and this woman had her head glued to her phone. I stood at the counter for a couple of minutes before she noticed that someone had entered the store. It is odd to me that people always have to supplement actual interaction with people for interaction with a device. I’m not the most personable guy in the world, and I’m not the greatest at making friends. It isn’t a surprise to me that people have difficulty interacting, when they spend ninety percent of their time texting or informing people of an upcoming bowel movement via online post.

I see people driving by my house, texting on their phones and not even watching the roads. Texts are more important to them, than the lives of others or themselves. I grew up old school, I suppose. I believe there is a time and a place for all things. Driving down the road isn’t one of them. Checking out at the store isn’t one of them either. It is fortuitous that we should have all of these movies and shows about zombies. If you pay attention you will see real life zombies every day. It disgusts me that people don’t take the time to interact with people. Everyone needs to unplug from time to time and smell the roses. Instead of living our lives in a box seeking the approval of others in a virtual world, we should go out in the real world and do the things we know are right and save social networking for our leisure time.

Preparing for life’s unforeseen difficulties can be a task. After all, if you can’t see it that makes it difficult to prepare for. Preparation is essential. Everything we do goes smoother if we prepare for the task beforehand. It would be silly to engage in activities with no prior knowledge of what we are supposed to be doing or how to do it. It could also be dangerous. It is also important to prepare for the security of our household’s  and families. This is what my article is about.

If you want to have a secure house, then prepared for what to do in an emergency is key. It is also important to be prepared with items to aid in the security of your home. I recommend security cameras, motion activated, with a view of the entire property, all possible approaches. Weatherproof and capable of day-night recording. While it’s nice to have people know you have cameras it might be a good idea to make them less visible, or put some very visible dummy cameras up to distract them from the real cameras. Why hire a security company to secure your home? I submit that no one cares more about the safety of your family than you do. If something happens, you are the first responder not the security company or the police in most cases.

I also believe it’s essential to have weapons to defend your home with. I realize not everyone is comfortable with firearms or their operation. I assure you when they are in the hands of someone trying to kill you, you will be even less comfortable with their operation. You can of course go with something non-lethal. However, when it comes to the safety of your family you want to make sure they are safe. Preparation for occurrences like this aren’t paranoid, they are just prudent. It is highly likely that you will never have to use a firearm in defense of your family. Indeed, I hope that you don’t  have to, and that I don’t either. It is negligent to not be prepared for circumstances such as this.  Just as you would prepare for a tornado if you live in Tornado alley you must prepare for possible home invasions.

It is unlikely that you will struck by a tornado, and its unlikely your home will be invaded by criminals. It never happens until it does, and the diligent individual that cares for the safety of their family must be prepared for as many eventualities as possible. It is reckless only if you aren’t prepared. You should be practiced in firearms if you intend to own one. If you can’t hit what you are shooting at you become a danger, and the firearm is useless. Practice is the key to success with all things. You must know how to maintain any firearm you own, and be familiar with all the different ammunition it can fire. You must be skilled in the operation of your security cameras and have a good early warning system set up. We all want to keep our families safe. Many of you want to rely on someone else to do that for you, and you hear about people like that all the time. It rarely works out well for them.  There isn’t a person on this earth that cares more about the security of your family and property more than you do. Take charge of your life and prepare to defend those you love. Outside sources of help can’t help you when you are being assaulted by wanton criminals, you are the first line of defense!

Egocentricism: Belief in something greater than the self.

People have become very focused on their own lives and agendas these days. There is nothing wrong with having concern for one’s own well being. We shouldn’t become so blinded by our own desires and problems that we lose sight of the fact that others suffer as we do, and some even more so. People say that no one cares about what happens to me, so why should I care? We should care about humanity as a whole. We should care about the well being of others. If we have room in our hearts for more than our own problems and heartaches, then we grow as a human being. It is also possible that if we have less apathy and more principled living in our lives, the culture of humanity can change as a whole.

There are greater things than just our own lives. The wonders of nature and the universe abound. I’m not going to endorse religion, as I have no wish to alienate anyone. If you look at the universe from afar it appears as a circulatory system. Every form of life on this earth can be reduced to an equation. It seems as if some grand designer was behind it.  Our lives are over in a flash, we aren’t even a blip on the radar of time. It would be nice if when we said goodbye to this earth, that we could at least be remembered for more than he or she was hard-working and loved their family. That we could be remembered for loving our fellow man and making a difference in someone’s life that we didn’t have to make. If we enriched the life of a stranger for no other reason than it was the right thing to do.

I’m not talking about making grand gestures so you can get adulation from the public. I’m talking about truly selfless acts of kindness. It detracts from the act if your only motivation for doing it is because others will notice how good you wish them to believe you are. We must make decisions from the heart and supplant our egos. We must also be truly passionate about the direction our countries, and our cultures are heading. If we just set back and allow others to decide our fate without so much as a word, then can we truly be surprised when we wallow in misery as a result of their decisions.  It is not enough to vote for this person or that person. We must make our feelings known far and wide. It is only by sharing ideas and being passionate about the changes we wish to see that we will ever realize any of these changes in our lives and the lives of others.

I’m tired of a self-centered society. A society of decadence and self-indulgence will only lead to chaos and collapse . This apathy for anything that doesn’t involve a person directly has to stop. We are all connected whether we choose to believe it or not. It is true. Every action we take or choose not to take either directly or indirectly affects the lives of others. We must take the time to consider our decisions and not allow pride or self-absorption to cloud our judgement. If you truly look within your heart you know what is right. The answer is within each and every one of us if we would only look. We must take the time to slow down from time to time and consider the world around us. Find some solitude and contemplate the truly important things in life. The most important thing of all in my opinion is personal growth and learning. We only grow by appreciating others and understanding that life is a journey. We are all on this trip together, and there is no need to make it harder for our fellow man.

It has been an immense time of change in the world. You find out so much information every day about technologies on the horizon; dangerous, violent developments and their possible impact on the United States. The world is constantly changing and it’s difficult to predict what direction it will go next. It is difficult to hear good news now days that is meaningful for the country as a whole. Sure, people are all caught up in their favorite sports team and for them that is a meaningful part of their lives. I think much of it relates to cognitive dissonance, but also people tend to lean on a normalcy bias that won’t allow them to perceive reality.

These two factors are but two examples of why we continue to elect politicians that disregard the will of the people. They take liberties with their position that isn’t theirs to take, and take liberties away from the citizenry that they have no right to take. Generally, the people continue to operate oblivious to their own predicament or they feel powerless to do anything about. Unity among principles, such as honesty, integrity, and common sense approaches should be enough to unite the people to proactively make changes to our government. The government may appear divided when you watch the evening news, but it’s a dog and pony show for you. They believe the American public will always be in the dark, that we aren’t knowledgeable enough to govern ourselves. (Lasky, 2014)

Each of should decide whether we want to morally responsible for future generations, or join with the politicians and professional bribers that wish to sell out our children’s futures. We should stand for fiscal responsibility, our government debt is well over 17 trillion dollars. Unfunded liabilities are over 121 trillion dollars. Out total national assets equal 111 trillion dollars.(, 2014) Its quite clear that we have much more that just the 17 trillion, we have a slowed growth and what unfortunately drives our economy as much as actual growth are projections of it. As you can imagine, when we fail to live up to expectations, this causes the economy even more stress. We have to tighten the government’s wallet and stop our country from continuing on a path we can’t hope to successfully maintain.

Life can be challenging and overwhelming. At times, it can seem as if the world is against us. Almost, as if the stars themselves have aligned to deposit that special excrement upon our heads. It is important to remember than many things in this life, seem to occur in cycles. Times may be tough, but we must keep on doggedly moving forward no matter what hardships we face. We will be rewarded for our perseverance at some point, if only with a chance to relax in sweet bliss for a spell.

We must never allow hardship to keep us down or dampen our desire for a better tomorrow. We are here to learn a lesson I believe. I believe it will take many of us a lifetime to learn just what that lesson may be. We have a purpose greater than ourselves to fulfill. We are all special in our own ways. Given the right circumstances the least among us adds substance to this life and to the universe. We can all add to the happiness of others. Sometimes, just a kind word or a reassuring look might be all it will take.

A quiet bit of solitude looking out over nature’s beauty can often help us find our center. Communion with one’s self is just as important as communion with others. Surround yourself honest and caring friends. When a person tells me they have a lot of friends, I can’t help but feel sorry for them. True friends never come in great number, and a small number of true friends is greater than an army of false ones. We must never lose sight of hope no matter how tough things may get for us. Each of us suffers, struggles, and blindly searches for our way, our truth in life. Learn from your past, but don’t stare back it for so long that you step off the cliff in your future.

In the history of the world one thing has brought down nations and empires more than any other single factor. Corruption is like a disease that spreads from one sector of society to another. It starts at the bottom and works its way up. The central government in Washington, D.C is a reflection of the local governments, and the local governments are in turn a reflection of the people they serve. I’m not a member of the state or national government, but I see this dishonesty everyday in my fellow citizens. I continually see the dishonest get ahead and succeed where the honest man or woman fail.

Lying to get ahead has become the norm. Integrity has become something you read about in books, but rarely hear about in real life. Characters are manufactured from lies and people get ahead in many cases by the hard work of someone else. The small businessman, by all accounts a hardworking and well deserving entrepreneur is often ran out of business by monopolies that in a free market aren’t supposed to exist. Large companies get a pass on taxes, such as the Healthcare tax, simply because they can afford to grease the palms of politicians. Taxes such as these kill the small businessman.

People routinely lie to the government to get free handouts. I say “free”, but they aren’t free, every dime comes from someone else. People that are really trying and struggling to get by aren’t allowed to get the help they need simply because they aren’t willing to lie. Meanwhile, these people that receive these handouts drive brand new cars, have all the latest gadgets, and live better than the average full time worker. They feel entitled to nurse on the government’s tit. It seems that most of them don’t make an effort to get off of welfare. The government is just as guilty as these lying and manipulative folks, because they use this handout to buy votes. There are many people that do need these handouts to help feed their families. Sadly, many of the honest folks out there aren’t allowed to receive any assistance. While the cold and heartless among us afford a lifestyle that they don’t deserve, by claiming disability or an inability to find a job. Jobs even in this economy are relatively easy to find, granted, there aren’t a lot of great jobs out there, but they aren’t nonexistent.

You only have to look to our southern border to the country beyond to see what corruption does to a country. We aren’t far behind them, and if the people of this country continue to have no moral compass then we will be third world. I don’t believe that most of America realizes how close to the precipice we are. If we fall off, it will be hard landing and many will not survive. They have no conception of what true hardship really is. These people will react violently in a collapse situation. People that have faced hardship, and know how to survive on the basics will make do, but those that always have to depend on someone else’s accomplishments will be left out in the cold. A corrupt society kills itself from the inside out, and a society with no morals that feels entitled is a poor survivor in truly hard times. I fear for my country. I fear mostly for those people with their heads permanently buried in the sand. Get involved, and start calling these local leaders out on their corruption and hopefully we can make a difference from the ground up.

Independence is a great attribute to have. Independence allows us to branch out and focus our energies on greater tasks. Independence for a nation is of utmost importance. Without independence, a nation becomes dependent on other nations whose own interests rightly outweigh the dependent nation’s needs. Therefore, the dependent nation becomes on some level subject to the whims of the countries that have the resources it needs. It becomes increasingly problematic when the nation that a dependent nation depends on, harbors a mass population with no love for that nation.

Energy independence is a buzz term you hear all the time in the mainstream media. There is no doubt that our oil reserves are larger than the nations we depend upon. (LEFEBVRE & SIDER, 2014)  What cause us to still depend on these suspect nations for our energy reserves? Oil is considered by many to be a pollutant, and there can be no doubt it is. The practices by which we extract this oil has also caused some concern among the green energy crowd. Our ambitions for green energy have not yet caught up with our desire to employ them. I believe we must still depend on oil to maintain a strong and independent nation.

This great country was once entirely independent of other nations in terms of food production. We were able to entirely feed our population without importing foods. Today, the nation’s cattle herd is smaller than it was in the 1950s! (Shields, 2014) However, our citizen population has grown tremendously since the 1950s. We now must import much of our beef, and beef prices continue to climb. This is only a symptom of the a greater problem. We have become a consumer based economy.

We once proudly manufactured most of the products sold in America, in America! Imagine that if you can. Now, we import so much of what we use. So many of our manufacturing jobs have been lost to overseas manufacturing. This makes our economy nothing more than a paper tiger. We don’t have the hard assets to back up our fiat currency. We are now the largest debtor nation in the world!! (Rogers, 2014) These are tough time for our economy. The government paid economists will tell you that everything is okay, and it will be for them. This nation is in trouble.

We must as a people go back to the pioneering spirit that made this country great! We must consider indepence a golden principle and a goal we must achieve. We should look for alternative sources of energy and find ways to make them affordable. We have to use what we have to keep our nation from collapsing. We need to support our farmers and ranchers. We should also promote small farming and ranching. We have these large mega companies freezing out their competition, and that is not the definition of a free market. We have to go back to our manufacturing base, and proudly produce products in America. We don’t want America to continue to fall into decay and become beyond repair. Altruism is a good attribute to have, but not if you slit your own throats in the process.

Freedom means many different things to different people. A lot of people seem to think that freedom is the ability for people to do only the things that they agree with. Freedom means having the ability to make wrong choices as well as the right ones. It means you have the freedom to say what you want, without some government designated free speech zone. It means you can go where you want. It means if you want to do something that’s harmful only to you then you have that right. The false left-right paradigm’s idea of freedom is that you are free only as long as you agree with me.

The erosion of freedom starts at a snails pace, and gradually picks up steam until you are living in chains. When you finally realize this, if you even do it will be too late to turn back the clock. They want to condition you to the idea of always being watched, always being listened to, and always being guilty until proven innocent. This is not the liberty that our founding fathers sought. I have no doubt our founding fathers, if they were here today would be calling for radical change within this country. The only thing radical about liberty is it breaks free from the control freaks that wish to micromanage the lives of their subjects. They believe we are their subjects. They are in fact our servants, and it’s time they learn that.

Today, there are cameras everywhere. They tell you it is for your own safety. That’s always how tyranny starts, for the safety of the people. They can find ways to justify any intrusion into the lives of the masses, if they can make them constantly live in fear of an enemy of their own creation. Safety without freedom and the rights of the individual being protected, is not liberty, it is servitude. If people do not start standing up and speaking out, soon there will be no way to speak out because the state will control all speech. Dissension will not be tolerated. This is a Republic, where the rights of the individual are always protected from the will of a majority. They routinely call this country a democracy, and that’s a lie. In a democracy the mob rules, and  should mob say let this group be in chains then it will be so. A republic protects the rights of each and every individual against unfair treatment from a voting majority. I just had to clear the difference up, so the next time you hear that word you understand the difference.

You hear the asinine argument that if you aren’t doing anything wrong then you shouldn’t have anything to worry about with the surveillance state. The government hides a lot of things and calls them classified, does that mean they are doing something wrong. If our government has the right to know everything about us, then shouldn’t the same right apply to us? The government wants to take away our guns, then we should take theirs away. The government needs to learn whose it’s master. It isn’t bankers, it is the people of this country. Without the people there would be no government.

It is time my dear friends to let your voices be heard, before you have no voice to speak with. We can not cower in fear because someone wishes us harm, or because the government says there is a boogeyman out there. There is no amount of danger that is worth giving up the liberties that our founding fathers fought so hard for. The constitution is not a living document as the new yuppie crowd would have you believe. The constitution is there to protect the citizens from their government. Those in power know this and that is why they try and sometimes succeed each and every day in perverting its meaning. We must stand as Americans against the erosion of our rights!! They are our rights, unalienable, they cannot be taken away except by death!
