Humanity has a long history fraught with wars and disputes of all kinds. We have displayed an inability to coexist with others peacefully for any significant length of time. Despite our primal instincts we as human are drawn to order and structure. We quite frankly need to believe in something greater than ourselves in order to function for any length of time as civilized creatures. Throughout that history, we can see many examples of what happens to societies when the power structure breaks down. Humans descend into barbarism that advances to such a degree that those left standing long for a return to order and thus vigilantism gives over to structure and security in a hierarchical form. The catalyst that ignited the fires that incinerated and caused societal barriers to breakdown are forgotten, and humans once again enslave themselves to an idea. Continue reading “The Replay”
I would assume, unless you’re living in an underground bunker you are aware of the sudden immigration crisis. This country is a country of immigrants. You hear that argument all the time. In fact, most countries in the world are nations of immigrants, after all everyone had to come from somewhere. No country in the entire world just opens their borders and tells everyone to come on in. If they did there would be chaos, rioting, and a large drop in the standard of living.
It is nice to care for the welfare of our fellow man. There is only so much we can do as one nation. The economy of our great nation is still reeling from the financial crisis of 2008, despite what the governments talking heads would have you believe. Our border has basically been open for too long as it is. People do exist that wish our country harm and they will exploit any weakness to make that a reality. Evidence exists that some of these people have already exploited this obvious entry point into our country for what nefarious purpose we cannot fathom. We are a populous nation, and we have many unskilled workers already.
We have needed to reform our immigration policy for some time. It may sound callous to some, but we need the best and the brightest fast tracked here. Entrepreneurs are what made this country grow from a colony into a wonderful nation. We have never secured our borders and haven’t even made a serious effort to do so. We continually give people passes for breaking our laws; laws that our own citizens would be punished for if we decided to illegally immigrate to some other country. This provides an incentive for people to keep coming enmasse and overloading our system. The border patrol is barely allowed to do its job. Now they are actually putting people on buses and taking them to places all over the country. They will have a court date, but I really doubt many of them will show up.
The obvious solution first and foremost is to make our borders fully secure and stop providing free passes to law breakers. Then we need a logical and streamlined reform of our lawful immigration system. It is however important to accomplish the first step in all of this first or the problem will never be solved. I’m not against immigration, but common sense dictates that there should be an orderly process. A process that enriches our country, not fill the modern day bread lines (E.B.T.).
